Marlborough’s Rick Stein restaurant was going to have a small guest house in the next door building.
The idea was that some guests coming from further away than the Marlborough area, would appreciate somewhere to stay the night.
Planning permission had been granted to turn the next door building – No 42 The High Street – into a guest house and connect it to the restaurant.
That plan has been dropped and the former offices of Smiths Gore estate agents are now being advertised to be let as offices or for a retail outlet.
The Rick Stein organisation has been asked for a comment. But so far it is unclear whether the guest house plans have been abandoned or postponed.
