Can someone please explain why you cannot catch a Wiltshire Connect bus, even when it is virtually empty, without having first booked a journey via their app.
Surely this means a loss of revenue, baffled visitors to the region, and angry residents trying to use public transport.

Ed Note: Wiltshire Connect buses, or how / when / where they operate appears to be a mystery to many. One resident of the Upper Kennet Valley tells us that although the publicity for the service made clear that it didn’t cover where they live, they see the bus passing their house regularly. They weren’t informed by Wlltshire Council about the service and how to use it as it didn’t cover their area. But it appears to. Or does it?
From what we understand it is, or should / could be a very useful service to many. But as our correspondent, Gerry Williams points out buses appear to be ‘virtually empty’.
This would put this service into the danger area of being unused and expensive, so ripe to be cut. Maybe, if Wiltshire Council did tell us, in the areas where it can serve, what it is, where it goes, how to use it, and when it goes, then maybe many more of us might try this potentially useful and excellent service instead of jumping in the car. Please Wiltshire, it isn’t really meant to be a secret, or is it…..?
