Would you like a glimpse behind the scenes at Marlborough LitFest? LitFest organisers are looking for volunteers who can spare an hour or two over the festival weekend (25-28 September) and would love to hear from anyone willing to help this or next year.
Volunteer opportunities range from helping at the box office or the festival café in the Town Hall to stewarding events in venues across Marlborough and supporting the free children’s events. And if you’re a dab hand at social media or you fancy dressing up as a LitFest jester, do get in touch!
There are perks – as well as getting the chance to watch the event they help at, volunteers are invited to the LitFest programme launch in July where they can buy tickets for all festival events ahead of general sale.
And you get to be part of the lively team who deliver one of the leading cultural events in Wiltshire. The festival committee is made up of a team of volunteers too who give up their time throughout the year to plan and deliver Marlborough LitFest.
Deb Watson, head of LitFest volunteers, says: ‘We so appreciate our volunteers’ hard work and dedication in the lead up to and during the festival weekend and hope that they enjoy themselves too. It’s so rewarding working together as a community to make the festival run smoothly.’
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email general@marlboroughlitfest.org
Marlborough LitFest 2025 will feature a varied programme of events for all ages including fiction, non-fiction, poetry and the annual Big Town Read. Already announced for this year’s line-up is award-winning novelist, Alan Hollinghurst, as LitFest’s 2025 Golding Speaker. The festival aims to champion new, upcoming writers as well as established names and also to encourage a love of reading in children and young people with author talks, competitions and our ongoing community outreach programme.
The full programme will be announced in July when tickets go on sale.
