Cricklade 0 – 69 Marlborough II
Marlborough II made it three bonus-points wins from three in D&W North 2, thanks partly to four tries from Callum Hunt against Cricklade RFC. Once Callum scored after some clinical passing Marlborough never looked back. New to the Club this season, Callum, was one of six try scorers on the day with Curtis Dawkins, Harry Williams, Tommy Elbow, Patrick Campbell and Louis Haismanall going over the try line. Unfortunately, Cricklade’s strategy of kicking possession to Marlborough was ruthlessly converted to points.
Although Callum’s four tries may grab the headlines, the mid field partnership between Joe Pittams and Harry Williams was a pleasure to watch and a great performance which was marshalled by Nathan Morgan at 10, they completely dominated both in attack and defense. Callum profited from their play, his ingredient of pace and footwork exposed Cricklade’s defence all afternoon.
Curtis Dawkins in his first game this season for Marlborough II, came off the bench at halftime, he kicked and chased to space in Cricklade’s twenty-two, the bounce was perfect and he finished under the posts
In the dying minutes of the game Marlborough defended their goal line, out scrummaged the opposition and the backs did the rest. Clinical hands saw Callum finish from his own 22 metre line.
Another fantastic result for the boys and roll on next Saturday when they are back on home turf on The Common when they play local rivals Devizes 2nds. It should be a great game, Marlborough are the ones under pressure with their 100% win rate. The 1st XV are also at home to Chippenham, a double header, roll on Saturday!
