Billy Vunipola, the England Rugby number eight and key member of London’s Saracens made an unannounced visit to the Marlborough Rugby Club Clubhouse on Saturday (16 December) afternoon.
Even though there wasn’t any publicity in advance dozens turned up at the clubhouse to meet Billy and get him to sign shirts, balls, anything that they could get their hands on and also copies of his new autobiography – ‘Wrecking Ball: A Big Lad From a Small Island – My Story So Far’.
It was also a family visit. Billy’s uncle, former Tonga international fly half Elisi Vunipola is Marlborough’s Director of Coaching and Billy follows his brother Mako in visiting the club. Mako was on duty for Saracens over the weekend so couldn’t join him, whilst Billy is still in recovery from a long term injury which we all hope will be clear in time for the Six Nations international tournament in the Spring.
There are still a few signed copies of Billy’s book at the Rugby Club so if anyone is interested in picking up a rare Christmas present drop the club an e-mail on the following address: info@mrfc.co.uk
