
Marlborough ladies knew it was going to be a tough match against Bath Buccs who are currently sitting towards the top of the league. But with a positive attitude and a squad of 13 they were ready to dig deep and play their game.
Marlborough came out strong, but with a well organised and drilled Bath Buccs team the majority of the play was inside the Marlborough half.
Marlborough’s defence were strong, making some superb tackles and marking well. They held Bath Buccs back denying them many scoring opportunities.
Eventually Bath Buccs scored, giving them the advantage. It looked like Marlborugh might equalise just before half time when a shot from Lottie Colquhoun was blocked by the body of a Buccs defender. However the resulting short corner strike was saved – leaving Marlborough a goal down at half time.
Marlborough regrouped at half time and came out fighting which created a few opportunities for Alex Crosby-Jones to put pressure on the Buccs defence, These moves resulted in a couple of short corners which Marlborough were unable to convert.
With Bath Buccs’ strong attacking momentum, they finally broke through our solid defence to score a second goal, the last of the match.
