Marlborough slumped to a rare defeat this season as they lost by 62 runs away at Marshfield.
Batting first Marshfield recorded 243 for 9 off their 50 overs thanks largely to 100 run third wicket partnership between Rupert Crockett 62 and William Johnson 39.
Marlborough also gifted the home side 44 runs in extras with Jon Carroll 2-34 and Bob Homani 2-28 the pick of the bowlers for the Savernake Forrest based outfit.
In reply Bradley James 29, Cam Gordon 25 not out, George Fox 24 and Carroll 22 all made starts for Marlborough but failed to make the big score needed as Marlborough were bowled out for 181 in the final over with Bond 3-25,Burnstone 2-23 and Cox 2-44 leading the attack for the home side.
Reflecting on defeat Marlborough skipper Tom Norris said “we bowled way too many extras and subconsciously underestimated Marshfield despite what we had talked about before the game which turned out to bite us in the backside.”
