During the last few weeks Year 5 and Year 6 pupils at Rambsury Primary School have won the Primary Schools Cluster Competitions for hockey, netball and swimming.
This success confirms that the school is worthy of the title of top performing school in sport in Wiltshire and Swindon. The school is also the recipient of the prestigious Platinum School Games Mark.
Six local schools took part in the swimming festival at Marlborough College on 14 February. Many talented swimmers took part and the outcome was close. However, Ramsbury won first place.
The hockey festival featured a main and quick sticks competition, with ten primary schools participating. Netball, unfortunately, had to be rescheduled a couple of times due to adverse weather, so not all schools could attend.
Kirsty Miles, is the teacher in charge of PE at Ramsbury: “I’m so impressed with the children, who have thrown themselves into every sporting opportunity. Winning is wonderful, but I’m particularly pleased that we have had so many children from Ramsbury participating – we took four teams of boys and girls to the hockey festival, and they all had a brilliant time in the February sunshine. We had great support for the Ramsbury vs Ramsbury final.”
Ramsbury school pupils have been rewarded with golden tickets to the Wiltshire and Swindon School Games.
Wiltshire & Swindon School Games is an annual programme which provides a platform for young people to compete in internal school competitions (level 1) through to district competitions (level 2) through to County competitions (level 3).
