Renaissance Retirement is re-developing the former Old Yard building supplies site on London Road into to 28 one and two bedroom retirement apartments.
The development – Fleur-de-Lis Marlborough – is likely to be completed in early summer of 2017.
The company employed former English Heritage consultant James Webb who advised Renaissance Retirement on the most appropriate building design for the sensitively located site.
The company adopted an Arts and Crafts style consisting of sweeping, sprocketed roofs, Voysey dormers and large chimneys.

“Marlborough is a delightful historic market town and we feel privileged to be part of the very fabric of the town going forward. We think this site is perfect for retired people who live in and around Marlborough.
“It will also free up many family sized homes in the area which are much needed in the second hand housing stock.”
- Meanwhile, McCarthy and Stone, which is building a retirement complex at the bottom of Granham Hill, has paused work while it reviews its ‘overall position’ in light of ‘current uncertainties’.
