At Monday (04 December) evening’s meeting of the Town Council Planning Committee, the committee was invited ‘to add additional comments‘ to those already submitted when the application on behalf of Housing Association Aster – PL/2023/03305 – was strongly rejected.
The committee reiterated their objections – see earlier report, and refuted the developer’s suggestion that the number of parking spaces shown in this application is sufficient. The developers claim that one space per two bed dwelling is adequate with none for one bed dwellings. This was a justification for the limited number of spaces available (eighteen) in the application.
The committee referred back to the Wiltshire Council Policies on Car Parking Strategy, and refuted the idea (as did the WC strategy) that controlling car parking spaces was not a viable way of controlling car use or ownership. (Click here to see minutes – go to Page 2)
So no change, at present. This application will come to a future meeting of the Wiltshire Council (East) Planning Committee where the outcome of this latest application will be considered, and maybe a decision made. The next meeting is scheduled for 25 January, at 3pm, in the Devizes Corn Exchange.
