Southcott Brut, Vintage 2018, a sparkling wine from Southcott Vineyard, Pewsey, has gained a Gold Medal in the national competition run by WineGB (Wines of Great Britain). The team of judges, led by wine experts Oz Clarke OBE and Susie Barrie MW, said that Southcott Brut is, “Full, juicy, fruit forward on the palate, with an appealing autolytic character underpinning the crisp Granny Smith apples, soft elderflower and elegant mousse.”

The wine has also been listed as a finalist for the WineGB Award 2023 Best Vintage Classic Cuvée. The winner will be announced at the Wine GB Awards 2023 on 7th July.
Sarah Ingram Hill, who runs Southcott Vineyard with her husband Tim, told Marlborough.news, “We’re thrilled to be given a Gold Award having gained Silver in the past. It’s also lovely to be listed as a finalist for the 2023 Best Vintage Classic Cuvée. We will be launching the Gold Medal wine for sale in July on our website.”

The new wine will also be available at the Lawn Farm Shop, situated off the B3087 at Little Salisbury, between Milton Lilbourne and Pewsey.
Southcott Vineyard was started in 2005 when Sarah and Tim Ingram Hill moved to Pewsey and planted classic champagne grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunière. The vineyard is small and consists of 2000 vines. The terroir is chalk and green sand.
Sarah commented, “All our family is involved in the wine production at one time or another. At harvest time we are also helped by friends and locals who are interested in the harvest experience. It makes the harvest an enjoyable event.”
