The driver had been travelling up Herd Street and found he could not make it over the rise by the pedestrian crossing close to Silverless Street. So he reversed back down the hill and backed into Oxford Street.
It was when he then tried to move forward out of Oxford Street to go down Barn Street that his truck became completely jammed.
The good news is that he stopped trying to manoeuvre his way out before he caused any damage to Barn Street’s buildings.
Police were called to try and sort things out and had to close Herd Street (aka the A346) at about 5.30pm. The recovery truck was able to lift the truck’s rear axle out into the Barn Street so he could drive off down the street. Herd Street was reopened at about 7.30pm.
