Hot on the heels of a parade of 200 soldiers from town’s adopted 4 Military Intelligence battalion last week, plans were unveiled this week for another military celebration.
Three hundred Air Cadets will parade along Marlborough High Street on Sunday, February 9 to mark formation of the Air Training Corps in February 1941.
Bill Mackenzie, committee chairman at Marlborough ATC 2293 Squadron, explained: “The Wing Parade will include cadets from all ATC units in the Wiltshire region, and Marlborough has been chosen to host this annual event because its own 2293 (Marlborough) Squadron celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.”
The ATC has applied for a 15-minute temporary road closure order to accommodate the parade, which will start at 2pm from George Lane car park.
The cadets will parade along George Lane in the Pewsey direction, turning up Pewsey Road before turning again into High Street, where they will march past VIPs. The parade will finish at the junction of New Road and Barn Street, near the war memorial.
