Marlborough will be Rising again between Friday 9 and Sunday 11 August when Marlborough Rising returns with a heady mix of different music genres, offering something for every taste and spread across three venues in the town.
Funky Blues and Soul, Indie Rock, Show Tunes, family-friendly Ukulele Orchestra, local Rising Talent will be at the core of this year’s weekend where the town will again be filled with music.
St Mary’s Church will resound to ‘Show Tunes’ on the Friday evening following last year’s very popular ‘Musical Time Machine’, while the Town Hall will be shaking to a night of Funk, Blues and Soul with the Tony O’Malley Band (ex of 10cc and Kokomo), Devizes’ Little Geneva and others.
Rising Talent – young local bands from the area will take to the Town Hall stage on Saturday afternoon warming it up for a night of Indie Rock.
The sound of George Hinchcliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain will resonate through Marlborough College’s recently refurbished Memorial Hall on the Sunday afternoon, taking advantage of the excellent new acoustic design of the venue and, weather permitting, an opportunity for a glass of Pimms outside on a sunny afternoon.
A weekend of great live music across the town with something for just about everyone. More acts and how to get hold of tickets will be announced soon but the weekend of August 9-11 needs to be pencilled in now for when the town next fills with live music.
