Marlborough’s long awaited new independent cinema – The Parade Cinema – in the converted Chapel in The Parade moved one step closer recently when Wiltshire council gave consent to the revised Planning and Listed Building Consent applications.
To complete this final phase Image Cinemas Ltd are offering the community the opportunity to become more closely involved in the project as investors rather than just customers.
Work is about to restart to convert the former (listed) Chapel and adjoining Manse into an independent community-focused cinema, offering more than just the chance to watch a film in comfort. The Manse is being converted into a cafe / restaurant offering customers fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced produce (when and from where possible)
In addition to the range of popular film to be shown there will be screenings of live events from locations such as the National Theatre, Royal Opera House and the Bolshoi bringing elite theatrical, operatic and dance productions direct to the audience with clear, powerful and well-distributed sound via the sophisticated acoustics of the cinema (completely insulated from the outside) and excellent digital projection all to be experienced in a comfortable air conditioned environment.
“Image Cinemas Ltd has recently asked its existing shareholders to subscribe for one share for every two shares they hold to raise a further £1,000,000 to complete the building of the new Parade cinema in Marlborough. Obviously some shareholders will not want or be able to subscribe for some or all of their allocation so the company is offering the surplus shares to new investors.” said Image Cinemas Chairman Robert Hiscox when asked about what they needed to complete the project.
He added, “The company believes that it is a solid investment in very handsome freehold buildings in the heart of beautiful Marlborough, with a good revenue stream immediately on opening. It is also providing a great community asset to enhance the town. Work starts in early September and is scheduled to be completed by August next year.”
They are also marketing a Friends scheme for £80 a year offering advance booking and a discount on all purchases, and separately the opportunity to name a seat for £500. Information regarding progress of the cinema can be found on their website: www.theparadecinema.com
