Mohammed Hossein has taken a long lease on the premises and carried out a major re-design on the main floor. His Bollywood restaurant opened on Tuesday (February 3) with a full house opening night crowd of guests – among them the Mayor and several town councillors including Billy Lam.
Mohammed Hossein has long experience in the family’s restaurants in Devizes (One Spice) and Market Lavington (Zeera.) But this is his own venture and he has brought in a chef from London Mr Shebol, who has worked in Indian restaurants around the country including Aberdeen’s renowned Light of Bengal.
The Bollywood will serve Northern and Southern Indian dishes. It will serve take away orders and at present there is a ten per cent discount on all take away orders. But the chef has some exclusive dishes – including ones based on venison and ostrich – that will only be served to diners in the restaurant.
Mohammed Hossain has a staff of ten and he is looking for some more, part-time staff. The Bollywood can seat seventy covers – that includes the upstairs party room.
Bollywood will be open every day for lunch 12.00pm to 2.00pm. Evenings: Monday to Saturday: 5.00pm to 11.00pm and Sundays 5.00pm to 10.30pm.

Bollywood is right next-door to the long-established Raj Indian restaurant – which has been having some trouble when some staff members were allegedly found without the proper papers. Those suffering withdrawal symptoms due to a lack Thai food can rest assured: the Raj is now serving Thai meals as well as its traditional Indian menu.
