At 10 o’clock on Saturday morning the doors will open and as well as coming in to admire the magnificent space dating back to the fifteenth century that is St Peter’s, you can now do that over a coffee, tea or other refreshment at the new ‘Cardinal Coffee Shop’. Named after Marlborough’s (later) Cardinal, Thomas Wolsey who at the start of his ecclesiastical career (in 1498) was ordained as a priest in this space.
And as it’s the ‘launch day’, there will be double reward points for all coffees, teas etc. purchased and free coffee giveaways to the first, tenth, twentieth customers, and a prize for the fiftieth.
The ‘official’ launch will take place at mid-day. There will be live music from pianist Kim Emery in the morning and acoustic duo ‘The String of Roses’ in the afternoon. Even something to keep the kids happy as well as there will be a chalk board artist present as well.
All profits from the cafe will go to support the work of the St Peter’s Trust.
