Over 30 older members of the Marlborough community were welcomed to St John’s for a festive celebration dinner on Wednesday 18 December. The dinner was followed by entertainment provided by students which included a Christmas Carol singalong.
Guests, staff and students enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner served by St John’s students. Pabulum, providers of catering services to St John’s, sponsored the evening and staff and students worked hard to decorate the school theatre to bring a festive feel to the evening.
Alan Henderson, St John’s Principal, was unfortunately unable to attend the celebration evening so Sam Cartland, Vice-Principal, welcomed the guests. She said: “It has been wonderful to be able to open our doors to the wider community and celebrate the festive season together. A huge thank you to our chef, Richard Tiley from Pabulum Catering, and Nelson Williams, the MD of Pabulum who sponsored the event, and to all the staff and students who helped make the evening such a success. I am always impressed by our talented musicians, and we are so grateful to everyone who gave up their time to make the evening so special. We very much hope to make this an annual event and continue to build our links with our wider community.”
The final festive community event at St John’s this December is the annual Carol Service, in St Mary’s Church on at 7pm on Thursday 19th December, where the school’s musicians gather once again for a memorable evening. School breaks up for the Christmas holidays at 12:25pm on Friday 20th December and reopens on Monday 6th January.
