The plaque is to commemorate the centenary of the Great War, and the road closure will take place to ensure the safety of all those attending the ceremony.
His Royal Highness will be greeted by the Mayor, Councillor Marian Hannaford-Dobson who will introduce him to Lt Col. James Brown, Commanding Officer of the 4th Military Intelligence Battalion. The ceremony will include a short service led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Reverend Heather Cooper.
The Duke will then present service medals to the soldiers of 4MI Battalion and meet Marlborough’s civic dignitaries and community leaders, followed by his witnessing of a Community Covenant between the Town and 4MI, a document that will further strengthen the bond of mutual support between Marlborough and the Battalion.
