Indie pop band Scouting for Girls have released the video to their bid for Christmas number 1, which was filmed at Marlborough’s Christmas lights switch-on.
The band spent a day in Marlborough filming scenes in and around the town, culminating with an appearance on the main stage at the Christmas lights switch-on on November 20.
The video – posted on YouTube this morning (December 1) – features the band busking outside Sound Knowledge in Hughenden Yard, and features plenty of local children.
The Castle & Ball doubles as the band’s local, The Swan in Ruislip. Christmas in the Air (Tonight) includes the memorable lyrics:
The shops open late and the school band sings a song,
A crowd gathers as the scout group marches on,
We’ll meet our friends they’re drinking in the Swan,
I don’t know where the times gone.
The High Street’s closed to all traffic,
We walk in the road and it feels like magic,
When I hold you close nothings ever felt so right,
On a cold dark Christmas night.
