For a few days next month – between Thursday 06 and Sunday 09 February – some classic Rick Stein seafood dishes will be offered at lunchtimes at the original 1975 prices. Shellfish soup for 50p and grilled lobster for just £2.80….. All to celebrate the opening of the very first Rick Stein restaurant – The Seafood Restaurant – in Padstow, Cornwall fifty years ago in 1975.
It’s not a case of turning up at lunchtime and asking for the bowl of 50p soup – there will be only a limited number available and all bookings will need to be made via a specific link – click here – which will be open as from this Friday, 24 January.
This isn’t just for the Marlborough Rick Stein, the same offer will apply to the Barnes (London), Winchester, Sandbanks, and of course Padstow restaurants.
As part of the promotion twenty five tables of two across the five restaurants will be set aside for community nominations, allowing people to recognise someone truly deserving of this special lunch. Nominate a friend or family member via the same link as above to ensure they have the chance to enjoy this unique experience.
Rick Stein CBE, Founder & Co-Owner of Rick Stein Group, commented: “Reflecting on the past 50 years, we’re so grateful to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey — from our loyal customers, talented team, and wonderful suppliers. We look forward to all the celebrations this year!”
Jill Stein OBE, Founder & Co-Owner of Rick Stein Group, added: “Little did Rick and I imagine when we opened our doors in 1975 that we would still be here 50 years later, celebrating half a century of the iconic Seafood Restaurant. We hope to welcome you to join us in celebrating our Golden Year.”
