The Health fair will run from 5.30pm to 7.00 in the Court Room of Marlborough Town Hall, finishing just before the Area Board meeting starts at 7.00pm upstairs in the Assembly Room.
The health fair is being co-hosted by Marlborough Area Board and Wiltshire Council’s public health department. It will be making available information, services and advice for the public to find out about and to take something useful away with them.
There will be information stands from the Stroke Association, Savernake Hospital, Wiltshire Council’s Leisure Service, Kennet Pharmacy, the Health Trainers initiative and tips from Anybody Can Cook.
The theme of the event is learning about ways of leading a healthier lifestyle and visitors will be able to have their blood pressure checked, pick up free activity vouchers for the leisure centre and advice from a wide range of organisations – from Dementia Friends to the Ramblers.
Starting at 6.00, Andrew Jack will be running a Dementia Friends awareness session to help people find out a bit more about what it’s like to live with this condition. He will be inviting people to become Dementia Friends and take a small action to help change other people’s awareness of this condition.
The area board meeting will follow straight after the health fair and the opening item will be a presentation and discussion of the Better care Plan for Wiltshire – a joint project by Wiltshire Council and the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
This will be introduced by Maggie Rae, who is Wiltshire Council’s Corporate Director for Public Health and (though still to be confirmed) Councillor Jane Scott, Leader of Wiltshire Council.
The area board will have all the usual agenda – including partner updates, community area grant applications and decisions, and a report from the Community Area Transport Group.
