At last night’s meeting (08 December) of the Town Council Planning Committee, Chair Cllr Mervyn Hall announced that there wouldn’t be any market days in the High Street over the Christmas and the New Year period.
Cllr Hall noted that the ‘Market free’ period was between 25 December and 5 January, so we assume that there will be a market on Christmas Eve – Wednesday 24 December, and then next on Wednesday 7 January. We understand that this was a move by the traders as particularly fresh produce was difficult to get across this period, due to the way the holiday days fall this year.
