Waitrose and Shell Recharge have today, February 14th, installed six 22kW and two 120kW charging points in the Waitrose carpark. Shell Recharge is compatible with most EVs. They provide connections for combined charging systems(CSS) and CHAdeMO. Tesla adaptors are not supplied but drivers can use their own adaptors on the CHAdeMO connector.

Barrie Lowe, from Faraday Electrical, who installed the chargers, told Marlborough.news, “The CHAdeMO connector will charge to full in an hour while it takes 4 hours to full on the 22kW chargers. This is still quicker than a home charger.”
Charging at Shell Recharge costs £0.79/kWh for Shell Recharge rapid chargers(120kWh) and £0.55/kWh for Shell Recharge(22kWh) and there’s no subscription. You can find an estimate for your total session cost, and charge time for your vehicle in the Shell Recharge app. We understand that Wiltshire Council parking charges will still apply in the charging bays.
Waitrose and Shell have ambitious plans to grow their partnership, installing hundreds of electric vehicle charging points in the supermarket’s car parks and more than doubling the number of Shell forecourt shops where Waitrose food is available.
Bernadette Williamson, General Manager Shell UK Retail, said: “This is great news for EV drivers across the UK, knowing they can easily, quickly and reliably charge up at Shell charge points while shopping at Waitrose. We want to make EV charging as hassle-free as possible and support our customers wherever they want to charge.”
Waitrose Executive Director, James Bailey, said: “This is an important partnership for Waitrose and means we can offer even greater convenience to more of our customers. We’re delighted to bring our customers 800 new charging points for electric vehicles, including new rapid charging capabilities, as the UK moves more and more towards a sustainable transport network.”
