Nearly £10,000 was raised for Prospect Hospice at Mayor Emily Trow’s Gala Dinner on 20 March. The eventual total has still yet to be finalised so may well break the ‘five figure barrier’.
Lots of generous raffle and auction prizes helped swell the amount raised, creating opportunities for guests to enjoy a stay in a South of France Villa, Clay Pigeon shooting session, Newbury Races day out and, not to be overlooked – tickets to the forthcoming MantonFest.

“A fantastic achievement” said Mayor Emily, “A wonderful and important cause, thanks to everyone that helped” she added, whilst also making specific thanks to those who helped make the Gala Dinner such a great success. Particularly to her family – Bruce Gauntlett and Julie Swanwick, and to Andrea Millar from the Town Council who all worked closely together to make such a wonderful evening .
Jeremy Lune, Prospect Hospice CEO told Marlborough.news: “This was a very special event where the best of a warm and supportive community was evident everywhere. People, talked, laughed and danced together while being incredibly generous with their support for Prospect Hospice. The fact that it raised nearly £10,000 and could even exceed that is incredible and will make a real difference to the lives of others”.
The amount raised means a great deal to Prospect Hospice as noted by Jeremy Lune (above). The invaluable service they provide to the community around here is funded by donations (such as this), legacies, income from their shops and money raised in other activities, such as the ‘Starlight Walk‘. As a Hospice, minimal funding comes from the NHS or Central Government and Prospect Hospice, along with every other Hospices in the country are here and able to provide this important and necessary service because of you…
