This morning (Friday 20 Oct) the day after the consultation period for the Planning Application PL/2023/0783 closed, the Wiltshire Council Planning site detailing the application was showing that there had been 262 comments submitted.
All positive and in support? Not quite. One was from Wiltshire Archaeology noting that there were no archaeological issues regarding the application, so neither supportive nor objecting, and one other from an individual who registered a short single line objection.
So two hundred and sixty in favour / one against. Quite a powerful statement of support from the Marlborough community for the canopy to remain in place, and many stressing the importance of the Cinema, and particularly this facility that extends the use of the cinema, to the town and its economy.
What will Wiltshire Council Planners decide? A good question, but likely to spark extreme criticism and scorn if their decision to demand its removal is maintained.
The Decision Deadline date is 15 November so we will wait until then to find out, but the level of (positive) response to this Planning Application is quite possibly a record. But that is for Wiltshire Council to confirm or otherwise.
See the original story regarding the removal of the canopy: It disappeared recently by demand from Wiltshire Council.
