Members of Marlborough’s Climate Coalition braved the elements earlier this morning (Saturday 11 February) to ‘Show The Love’, an annual celebration of ‘all that we love but could lose to climate change’.
A group of around thirty committed Martlborough area residents turned out as part of the nation-wide ‘Show The Love’ campaign, designed to encourage national and world leaders to shift to clean and secure energy within a generation.
Many of those present came with their own versions of the emblematic Green Heart, their own green Valentine message to the world.
“A wonderful turnout on such a dismal day” commented Judy Hindley, one of the Marlborough organisers. “Such an important issue, it shows that this is an issue about which the people in this area care deeply.” she added.
The Climate Coalition is spearheaded across the Marlborough area by Transition Marlborough and the local group of the Citizen’s Climate Lobby, members of both groups representing the core of those who turned out this morning.
“The Marlborough area has a vibrant history of climate action; in joining under the umbrella of The Climate Coalition – with over 100 member groups and a combined supporter base of 15 million – we know we can make our voices heard, and our energy resonate.” added Judy. “If we face it – we can fix it!
