Marlborough’s opponents in their new ‘Big League’ (Regional 1 South Central of London & SE Division) are situated far further away then last season or before. The new league is competitive, better (and bigger) clubs and teams, a far greater test which should yield better games of rugby. But Marlborough Rugby need support. Plenty turn up to home matches on The Common, but it’s away, in places like Bournemouth (this Saturday afternoon) and Horsham or Havant, all of which are far further away than Devizes, Swindon or Newbury.
To help encourage support the club will be offering seats at a nominal £10 return, initially on the team coach.
For this weekend’s Bournemouth trip, the coach will depart from the Rugby Club on the Common at no later than 11am and should get back by 8pm.
Seats can be pre-booked and if not will be on a first-come / first-served basis. To reserve a seat (or two?) e-mail events@mrfc.co.uk. Mention Marlborough News and they might even let you go for free, always worth a try!
Between now and Christmas Marlborough Rugby will be visiting Hammersmith & Fulham, CS Stags (Chiswick), Bracknell, Horsham and Brighton. Travel details for each trip can be found on the club website or enquire via events@mrfc.co.uk.
For those that can’t make the trip to Bournemouth, there is always the opportunity to support Marlborough 2nd XV on the Common. This is their first home league game of the season and is against local rivals, Pewsey Vale. Kick-off at 2:00pm.
