Job done…… Next year’s visitors to The Common will include London Welsh, Maidenhead, Brighton and many other of the larger Rugby Clubs across the southern counties of England
A clear and decisive 79-0 victory over Buckingham ensured promotion for Marlborough Rugby – even with four games still to go. To date this season Marlborough have achieved a maximum – win points and try bonus points from all matches played.
Marlborough Rugby will now be competing in ‘Regional 1 South Central’ division, a major step up from the current division – ‘Regional 2 Tribute South Central of South West’ – and compete against teams from a far wider area. Another rung up the ‘national ladder’.
A large crowd braved the blustery and drizzly conditions, not cold but on The Common the climate always seems removed from the weather elsewhere in the town. Probably the largest crowd of the season so far, and they were rewarded with an excellent match and a final result that marked a significant step in the upward progress of Marlborough Rugby.
