Marlborough’s Town Council has signed up for the Great British September Clean initiative and is looking for volunteer litter pickers.
Clare Harris, Assistant Town Clerk, told Marlborough.news, “We’ve signed up to the Great British September Clean and hope you’ll join us from a distance.
The current government restrictions on the numbers of people who can gather together outdoors, and social distancing rules, means this time it’ll be a little different.
We can’t lead organised groups this time but you can opt either for:
Method 1 – Litter-picking alone or in pairs – you can give as little as 15 minutes to the campaign, it all counts!
Method 2 – Your own private clean-up in small groups of family and friends. A small group is defined as a maximum of six people however, this number may increase or decrease over time – please follow changes to Government guidance

You can decide where and when you join in – just let us know. We’ll provide litter pickers and bags and you’ll need to let us know where we can collect your full bags. Don’t forget to take photos of all your good work so we can post them!
While I can’t be with you this time I will still be very much involved and will be here to support, encourage and answer questions – just without the tea and cake (sorry)!”
All the Coronavirus guidance can be found online and participants must read it in full before taking part. You can find it here
The event runs from September 11 to 27. Volunteers should pick a date and a method and then contact Clare at the Town Council to arrange collection of the necessary equipment together with tips and advice and any changes to government guidance.
