
Now the three large windows of one of the High Street’s few empty shops – Rowlands as was – have been adorned with local school pupils’ responses to the Marlborough in Bloom art competition on the theme of poppies.
St Peter’s and Preshute schools have produced a great variety of drawings and paintings that chime well with both Marlborough in Bloom and the First World War centenary.
On Tuesday, the same day the Royal Horticultural Society’s judges visit the town, these entries will be judged by Mayor Marian Hannaford-Dobson and winners will go forward to the South West in Bloom competition final in Truro.
This display really makes it clear that Marlborough is in full bloom.
And before the judges arrive in Marlborough, there is another chance to join in the clean-up – meet in Priory Gardens on Monday at 10 am.
