St Mary’s Church, Marlborough is organising a celebration of Christmas involving at least 1000 angels and a light and sound walk through to be enjoyed by the whole community.
Helen Stokes, who is organising the project, said, “St Mary’s Church Marlborough is delighted to be hosting a community project to celebrate Christmas together: 1000 Christmas Angels! During November when our lives will largely be more home-based, everyone is invited to decorate an angel to be incorporated into a glorious sound and light walk-through Christmas celebration.”
A template for the outline of the angel and instructions can be downloaded here. It is based on images from a stained glass window in St Mary’s Church. Hard copies are also available from St Mary’s Church.

There will be a special opening in St Mary’s Church on Saturday, December 5.
Helen commented, “All members of the community have been invited to take part including schools and churches. Our aim is to have considerably more than 1000 angels in a vast and spectacular heavenly host!
These angels may be colourful and creative, they could represent family members far and near or even be a form of journal expressing thoughts or prayers during lockdown. There are 1000 possibilities!
Why not display your angels in a visible window for a few days to spread some Christmas cheer? Completed angels will need to be cut out and left in the collection box in St Mary’s Church porch or at The White Horse Bookshop by November 30th. If getting to a collection point is difficult, email 1000christmasangels@gmail.com
Come and visit St Mary’s church in December in your family group or bubble and enjoy a glorious taste of Christmas in sound and light ….and 1000 Angels!”
