The process towards a Marlborough campus was launched at September’s meeting of the Marlborough Area Board.
This month’s meeting will choose members of a Shadow Community Operations Board (COB) to move the plan forward. (The Area Board will meet at the Golf Club on Tuesday, November 26.)
There will a very considerable sum of money to be invested by the Council in the way services for Marlborough are provided.
Community campuses are designed to help deliver public services which are value for money, tailored to local needs and influenced by local people and partners.
Campuses are being developed with local people taking a central role – ensuring each campus is as individual as the community it serves.
The campus could be new buildings or greatly improved and developed existing buildings. One of the main aims behind campuses is to create flexible space which can be used for a variety of purposes and by a variety of people or organisations.
The Shadow COB is made up of people living in the community area including representatives of community groups, parish councils and children and young people, and its role will be central in directing the project.
People wishing to become involved in the project should express an interest by Monday, November 11. Simple forms can be found on the Council website or you can get one by emailing Campusconsultation@wiltshire.gov.uk
Further information on the campus programme can be found in our previous report and on the Council website.
Even if you are unable to commit to a long term involvement, but feel you have skills and energy which could be useful, the Campus Team would be interested to hear from you. If you want to discuss what is involved before making an application please email: Ros.Griffiths@wiltshire.gov.uk
