Marlborough photographer Bob Holman is exhibiting a selection of his evocative black & white Marlborough pics in St Peter’s this week. They show Marlborough in different ways, in a (quite) different light and bring the town to life in a style and form that brings a unique and powerful character to the town.

Bob’s journey as a photographer has been long. For many years it took second place to ‘The Food Gallery’, but now that is run by son Rich and daughter Kat, Bob can devote more time and attention to the other part of his career – a photographer.
Every photographer tends to specialise in certain types, subjects and styles of image. Bob works (mainly) in mono – black & white – and using a phone – currently an iPhone, and his area is predominantly Marlborough and the surroundings beyond the town itself.
Bob has produced several ‘Marlborough in Monochrome ‘Zines’. These are small A5 books/magazines, each on a theme of Marlborough. On display are three (of four) editions – ‘Alleyways’, ‘Rooftops’ and ‘After Dark’. Each is on sale at St Peter’s, or they can be bought from the White Horse Bookshop.
All of Bob’s pics on display were printed, mounted and framed by Marlborough Photo

UPDATE….
Bob’s next ‘Zine will be about the Marlborough under our feet. Along the HIgh Street there are many tunnels, some running across, some running along.
The buildings on both North and South sides have, in many cases, several levels of Cellar below. Sometimes even the inhabitants above, the shopkeepers or even owners/landlords aren’t aware. Bob has been discovering the Marlborough below – more to be reported later……
