Martha and Matthew Long will be opening the doors to Feather and Spice, a new independent shop selling a range of traditional and contemporary kitchen and dining essentials, homeware and selected gifts on Friday January 23 at 9.30 am. Martha told Marlborough.news, “Having had the pleasure of working with Paul and Kirsten at Valentiner for the past 12 years, and following their retirement, I’m delighted to be re-opening as Feather and Spice.”

Both Martha and Matthew were born and grew up in Marlborough, attending St John’s School where they first met. Matthew commented, “It’s really exciting to have our own store in the town we grew up in and it’s a privilege to take on what Paul and Kirsten built over the last 12 years.”

Feather and Spice has all new stock but some of the goods will be recognised by loyal customers of Valentiner, for example the adult humour birthday cards as well as a wide choice of gift accessories.
Upstairs will still be the kitchen shop. “Marlborough needs a kitchen shop,” Matthew explained, “but we will be developing that side of things with both modern and traditional items.”
Feather and Spice will be open Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 5 pm, Saturday from 9.30 to 5.30 pm and Sunday from 11 to 4 pm.
