Local band, The SODs (The Sad Old Dads), raised an amazing £1,500 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance at their sold out 2023 Christmas gig in Devizes Town Hall.
The four piece covers band, made up of local Wiltshire dads Nick, Hugo, Jonathan and Kevin were joined onstage by backing singers Gabby and Hannah, and played in front of a packed audience in the Town Hall in Devizes. They were joined for a couple of Rolling Stones songs in the set by local act Mick Jogger, from Mick Jogger and the Stones Experience.
The band has been performing since 2019 and met as parents at Dauntsey’s School.
Hugo said: “We’d like to thank everyone that came out and supported us last December for such a festive party. We’re delighted to raise funds to help the sterling work that Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides for the county.”
The band are planning another Christmas gig for this year.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance costs £4.5 millions a year to keep the lifesaving service operational, which equates to more than £12,000 per day. The charity receives no regular direct funding from the Government or National Lottery grants , so relies on the generous donations from the public and businesses to raise the vital funds needed.
