Earlier today – Monday 29 July – a Ken White original artwork was unveiled at Prospect Hospice in Wroughton. Ken’s brother Michael spent his final days at Prospect earlier this year and this work was donated by Ken and Michael’s family. A touching tribute to his late brother.

“We are incredibly grateful to the White family for this extraordinary gift,” said Jeremy Lune, CEO at Prospect Hospice. “Their generosity will bring comfort and inspiration to patients, families, and staff for years to come.”

Ken White is an artist of widespread international renown. With roots in Swindon (he started off as an apprentice at GWR back in the fifties), Ken made his name as a muralist, with many of his works gracing large wall spaces in London and elsewhere across the globe, and even on some planes as the ‘Scarlet Lady’ who adorns the nosecone of the Virgin Atlantic fleet was one of Ken’s creations.

But much of Ken’s work reflects the industrial landscapes and the lives of working men, strongly influenced by life in the railway workshops where he worked in his youth. Swindon in the fifties and sixties.
