At eleven O’clock all fell silent, save for the clock bell of St Mary’s and the synchronised chime of the bell of HMS Marlborough.
Thirty minutes earlier Marlborough’s Remembrance Day Parade had started as the Mayor, Councillor Marian Hannaford-Dobson accompanied by Col Jim Brown, Commanding Officer of 4Military Intelligence Battalion inspected the Parade of 4MI troops and those representing a host of other organisations, a phalanx of the old and the young, veterans of WWII to the youngest of all Cub Scouts, all assembled in the High Street.
Present with all the civic dignitaries and 4MI Officers were Devizes Constituency MP Claire Perry, Chairman of Wiltshire Council Councillor Roy While, and the Bishop of Ramsbury, Right Reverend Ed Condry who led the prayers at the War Memorial.
Set out below is a gallery of images from the Parade. Of the inspection of those assembled in the High Street to the wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, this gallery catches most of the Parade. Click on any pick to enlarge.
