Elcot Lane based Fitness Space has been helping fund meals for the UN’s World Food Programme to provide to schools in underprivileged areas of the world. Fitness Space use Technogym as a supplier for their gym equipment and software and Technogym have been running a ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ challenge for those client gyms that wish to help by enabling their members to achieve ‘Move’ points, each of which go towards funding meals delivered to schools by the UN Agency.
Fitness Space saw that they were eligible to become involved so they set their sights on gaining as many points as possible across the two weeks of the challenge. Ending this week, so far they have accrued enough points for several hundred meals and the campaign still has days to go.
Points are awarded to gym members by realising their own specific physical challenges. By going to the gym members will gain fitness and health through exercise and whilst keeping themselves fit they will be creating real benefit for those in other less priveliged parts of the world.
It’s another reason to go and spend time in the gym, and help those in need elsewhere at the same time.
Personal Trainer Ben explained that more than fifty Fitness Space members joined this campaign, each with their own specially created routines and challenges and so far as noted above enough ‘Move’ points have been achieved for several hundred meals.
He told marlborough.news: “I see the two big achievements for our members to celebrate: they are helping to donate a number of meals to a very worthy cause whilst also helping themselves through exercising more, and improving their health and fitness while genuinely enjoying the exercise. It’s a real ‘win-win'”
Ben added that at Fitness Space “we prioritise a community feeling and really want to get people to better their health and fitness while enjoying themselves”. Keeping fit can be fun, but also, thanks to Fitness Space, Technogym and the UN World Food Programme it can help many others in need as well.
