Oare village and school held a Spring Festival on Saturday May 17th which brought together the school and village community. There was Morris dancing, maypole dancing, vintage cars and tractors, lambs from Stowell Farms, craft stalls, traditional games for children as well as afternoon teas, G and T’s and Pimms. A highlight was a well-stocked plant sale generously donated by village gardeners. Presiding over events were the May Day King and Queen, Prince and Princess.

Michelle Perrett, Executive Principal of Oare C.E Primary School, said, “The Oare Spring Festival proved to be a delightful and well-attended event, drawing together both the school and village community. It was heart-warming to see so many familiar faces, as well as to welcome new friends to the school grounds.

The festivities were officially opened by the May Day King and Queen, Freddie and Mariah from Year 5. They were supported by the Prince and Princess, Rauri and Tilly from Year 1, who added a charming touch to the occasion.
Children from Oare Primary School performed traditional dances around the Maypole, delighting the audience with their colourful ribbons and well-rehearsed steps. The lively atmosphere continued with a performance from The Garston Gallopers, a Morris dancing group from Hungerford, who entertained the crowd with their energetic and rhythmic display.
Visitors enjoyed a wide array of attractions, stalls, and activities, offering plenty to see, buy, and experience. The festival was a true celebration of community spirit and the joy of spring.”
