Fifteen volunteers kept the children busy for three mornings with a range of activities many of which involved getting ‘messy’ – this year’s theme. There was decorating cupcakes, making bird boxes, a water fight and slide, lots of different outdoor sports, a bouncy castle and stories and songs.
Bible stories were reenacted and brought to life with props made by the children such as a burning bush and a house built on the sand and one on a rock.
Janneke Blokland, organizer and assistant college chaplain, said, “Both adults and children alike enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The children not only enjoyed the activities, but also making new friends with children from different schools.”
The event was supported by Marlborough College and Tesco. Marlborough College made the venue available. Tesco donated the majority of the refreshments.
Janneke commented, “All in all, it was very successful and likely to be repeated next year.”
