Two charities, the Hamiliton Trust and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library have joined forces to offer free books to babies and under-five children in the Marlborough area. There is absolutely no cost for the parent, and there is no catch! Dolly Parton’s vision is that each child can build up a library of 60 books by the time they reach five.
Parents can find out more, and also enrol their child, by logging on to the website here
Hamilton Trust is an educational charity based in Oxford, whose main purpose is to support primary teachers nationally through providing teaching resources on its website here .
The Trust is already helping Marlborough children and the Marlborough LitFest, and has a special interest in the under Fives.
Jane O’Regan, one of the trustees of Hamilton Trust, said: “We were excited when we heard of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library being run in Oxford, as also in many other places in the UK. So we decided to run the scheme in Marlborough, our home town.”
Books and postage are all paid for by the Hamilton Trust, and all the organisational and central support costs are paid for by the Dollywood Foundation. There is nothing for parents to pay and nothing they have to do except enjoy reading books with their children.
