Late yesterday afternoon a light aircraft made an emergency landing in a field behind Milk Hill and the Pewsey Vale White Horse at Alton Barnes, coming down in a (relatively) flat field and ending up in a fence.
Thankfully both occupants were reported as being uninjured. Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance services all attended shortly after the landing, which was reported by Police as happening at about 5:20pm, just as the light started to go down and shortly before sunset.
The plane – a Glasair II SRG – was still in the field this morning – Wednesday 23 February and appears to have sustained some damage – no undercarriage which must have collapsed on landing – and a bent propellor. It appears to have been en route from High Wycombe Airfield in Bucks with a possible destination of Frome, according to Flightradar24.
