Questions have been asked by many carers, friends and relatives of housebound residents about getting a shot of the booster vaccination for those unable to venture out.
The local Medical Practice – KAMP aren’t participating in this booster vaccination programme so it’s being managed by the area Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Marlborough falls within the CCG covering the Bath, North Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire areas.
Marlborough.news have looked to establish exactly what those seeking to arrange a booster vaccinations for anyone housebound should do.
We received the following statement from the CCG:
“We fully recognise how important it is to provide the Covid-19 booster vaccine to housebound patients, and we are doing all we can to support our GP colleagues who are currently visiting homes across the region.
“Some patients have already received their booster vaccination, and others will be visited in priority order over the coming weeks, and while we know many people are keen to receive their top-up dose, we do ask for patience while colleagues carry out this logistically-complex programme.
“To help get vaccines out as quickly as possible, drivers from St John Ambulance will be helping to take clinicians across rural areas, and we thank them for their ongoing support.”
We also asked a representative from KAMP and received the following advice:
“Today, the CCG issued the following statement:
1. The CCG has received a list from KAMP of housebound people in Marlborough requiring a booster at home.
2. The roll-out is underway on a town-by-town basis and people should receive their jabs before Christmas.
3. People will be contacted a few days before someone comes to give them the jab.”
They also added that: “the CCG effort to vaccinate patients with their Covid boosters is underway. The logistics of delivering the Covid vaccines to people in their own homes is complicated and takes time. Each vial of vaccine once diluted must be transported very carefully across as short a distance as possible, so this process takes time.”
