Newbury Racecourse are kindly giving marlborough.news and marlboroughequestrian.news five pairs of tickets for the Saturday (November 30) of their Ladbrokes Winter Carnival – that’s the day of the £250,000 Ladbrokes Trophy.
The Trophy is the most valuable steeplechase anywhere in the country – bar the Grand National. This race was first run in 1957. Last year it was won by the Colin Tizzard trained Sizing Tennessee under Tom Scudamore – coming home ten lengths ahead of another Tizzard trained horse Elegant Escape.
So we are holding a competition – it’s open to all our readers and five winners get a free pair of tickets. All we need is your name and email address (so Newbury Racecourse can contact you about the tickets) – and a couple of answers. Entries with the correct answers will go into a – large? – hat and the winning five names will be drawn.
Questions:
1. In 2015 the race was won by Smad Place – who trained him and where?
2. Between 2005 & 2015 which Lambourn trainer won the race two years running?
Email your answers – with full name – to competitions@marlboroughnewsonline.co.uk This competition closes at noon on 14 November 2019.
