The achievements of Marlborough Tennis were recognised formally, on a County-wide platform by the award of ‘Club of the Year’ at the recent Wiltshire Tennis awards ceremony held in Chippenham.
How? Why? The citation referenced the many reasons why the club stood head and shoulders above other clubs in the county:
- The amazing £275,000 new clubhouse
- The club’s popular and fun social tennis programme covering all days of the week
- The success in coaching with Hit Fit, Doubles coaching, league tennis practices and the way the club trains juniors to achieve Level 1 coaching qualifications. Plus, the ever popular childrens’ camps during school holiday periods.
- The introduction of a new and flourishing walking tennis programme
- The club’s competitive tennis programme with Club Championships, growing numbers of League players and Box Ladders.
- Continued growth in membership numbers and the club’s county leading membership model offering date of joining membership and split payments to help with the cost of joining.
- The growing sponsorship support received from RBC Brewin Dolphin and Fine and Country
- The club’s community engagement support especially in schools and with groups like u3a.
Marlborough Tennis Chair Andrew Payne gave thanks to Wiltshire Tennis on behalf of the club: “This is brilliant news. We are proud of where the club is now; the journey we have been on to get here has involved a lot of hard work from an awful lot of member volunteers whose efforts often go unnoticed. This award is a huge thank you for their commitment, dedication and effort. We have so much more ambition for what we want the club to become but for now we want all our members to celebrate our success by getting on court and playing tennis!”
