Today, Wednesday November 18, an 18 metre Christmas tree was erected on The Green and it will soon be bedecked with lights and an illuminated star to help bring some Christmas cheer on these gloomy, dank, lockdown days.
It took Nigel Weatherly, Marlborough Town Council Grounds Manager, and his team moments to place the tree, which is the largest Marlborough has ever had, in position. They were helped by Charles from T H Whites and his Manitou Telehandler.
The tree is the largest the supplier could find. It comes from the Yattendon Estate and is sustainably sourced.
Nigel told Marlborough.news, “It will take a few days for the branches to settle and rehang how they naturally would. I hope it will bring a bit of light to a very dull year.”
The tree lights will be switched on at the same time as the lights in the High Street.
