Marlborough Mayor Cllr Kym-Marie Cleasby paid a visit to Marlborough’s iconic Merchant’s House this afternoon, ostensibly to look around the House now decked out for the festive season with ‘Christmas sparkle’, but also (probably) to do just a bit of her important Christmas shopping in the upstairs Christmas room.
Mayor Kym-Marie was welcomed to the Merchant’s House by Trust Chair, Alison Galvin-Wright and Trust Manager Kevin Dickens.
An opportunity for a visit to the Merchant’s House, to view all the Christmas stockings, trees, garlands, toys, stars, gingerbread, and snowflakes all lit by twinkling candlelight.
Whilst the weather outside was dismal, grey damp and generally dreary not so inside.
The Christmas room is open to all visitors to the shop and house, where all the Christmas gifts are displayed. The rest of the house is open daily Tuesday to Sunday between 10am and 2:30pm. Entry is free to Friends of The Merchant’s House & Historic House Members and those visitors under 18, otherwise £10.
Last day open before Christmas is Christmas Eve, reopening for three days between Christmas and New Year – 27, 28 and 31 December and open again between 2 and 4 January in the New Year.
