Wiltshire police have issued the following statement :
At 6.30am this morning (22/01) we were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision near the A4 Beckhampton Roundabout, Avebury.
Sadly, the driver of the vehicle, a 37 year old man from Swindon, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
We would ask that their privacy is respected.
Road closures are currently in place around the A4 and on the B4003 to West Kennet.
We are appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident to contact us on 101 quoting log number 30 of today.
