From August 2017 all Wiltshire’s waste collection services and all its recycling will be handled by Hills Waste Solutions – on an initial eight year contract agreed by the Wiltshire Council cabinet today (January 19.)
The new service is being described as ‘a streamlined waste collection service’.
The award of the contract follows a procurement process during which Hills ‘demonstrated how it will deliver cost effective services to the specification the council requires’.
One of the changes the new contract will bring is that black boxes will only take glass for recycling, with the blue-lidded bins taking all other recyclables including a wider selection of plastics.
Councillors and officers will be working with all the Council staff concerned as details of the contract are announced once the ten-day procurement standstill period passes and the contract is officially confirmed.
